How It Works
1 / Browse
Please review the following guidelines so that we may have a pleasant and creative learning experience together! Then fill out the form at the bottom of this page.
2 / Let's Chat
I’ll give you a call! I like to talk over the phone for 15-20 minutes so I can get an idea of what you’re looking for.
3 / Music Time
We’ll find the perfect time to schedule your first lesson!
Usually we’ll have what’s called an initial fit session. This is a one-time agreement to try out a real lesson and see if lessons with me are something you’d like to continue. After the initial lesson, students are highly encouraged to purchase a package or continue with the tuition model.

Attendance & Student Commitment
-
By signing up for lessons, you are committing to a specific time slot. Due to the nature of scheduling private students, changes in your lesson time are not guaranteed.
-
At the beginning of every semester, I will provide an updated calendar of studio closure dates so that you may plan accordingly.
-
Students will still be charged for missed lessons. I will have a certain number of drop-in lessons available every week, and they may be used to make up missed time on a first-come-first-served basis. Lessons canceled without at least 24 hours’ notice are not eligible for drop-in lessons.
-
Please be punctual. Keep in mind, lessons will end at the same time regardless of when they start.
-
Consistency is important when learning, and music learning is no different. Students are expected to practice regularly and to be prepared for lessons and performances. Parents can often help and remind students to practice. It is often very helpful to keep a positive attitude, as beginners can easily get frustrated and discouraged.
-
Parents may attend lessons, if desired. Please refrain from any distractions from the lesson, including phone calls. Please also recognize that this is a learning-friendly environment.
Illness
-
Students should not attend lessons when they are sick. If you notice your child is starting to feel ill, please contact me immediately and we can decide what to do based on the exact circumstances.
-
Video lessons are an excellent option for a student who feels well enough to sit through a lesson but may be contagious.
-
Singers sometimes may be recovered from an illness but not well enough to sing. As long as the student is not contagious (per CDC guidelines), the student may still attend the lesson and benefit greatly from doing so, even if they cannot sing.
Extra Materials
-
In order to respect composers, musicians, and publishers, extra sheet music and backing tracks will need to be purchased by the student. This will vary greatly from student to student, and each student’s individual financial circumstances will be taken into account.
Ukulele Students
-
Ukulele students will need to purchase or rent their own instruments and have access to a tuner. A tuner can either be purchased or you may use various smart phone apps in order to tune.
